The touring exhibition of LANDscapers makes its first stop in the Knowledge Walk at the State Library of Queensland as part of the Ideas Festival. It's a perfect starting point for an artwork that will intrigue, delight, inspire, and encourage a fresh view of the built environment, the spaces within, and the natural environment surrounding it.
LANDscapers is a subtropical designers dream! An ethereal white inflatable garden springs to life as if in a dream sequence, spreading its flowering tendrils across and into the dense, hard surfaces of the city’s urban environment.
Artists Nicole Voevodin-Cash and Elizabeth Woods have transferred a mapped city experience into a three-dimensional semi-abstract garden plan that grows and breathes literally “landscaping” the space it inhabits with a living, growing organic form.
Throughout 2009, this engaging sculptural work will activate and animate significant public spaces across Brisbane encouraging discussion about water and energy resources, sustainability and creative thinking.
LANDscapers has received financial assistance through Arts Queensland from art+place, the Queensland Government’s Public Art Fund.
