Home > About Ideas About IdeasThe Ideas Festival was a four day festival of ideas, innovation and invention, held at Brisbane's South Bank, Australia from 29 March – 2 April 2006.

Attendances at the Festival exceeded 20,000, with people from across Brisbane joining audiences from regional Queensland, interstate and overseas. An open public event, the Ideas Festival continues to draw new audiences with many people reporting that 2006 was their first time attending an Ideas Festival.
In addition to speaker sessions Ideas Festival audiences enjoyed Ideas exhibitions and demonstrations and the Kids Ideas program. Further national and international audiences have tuned to Ideas Festival sessions through live radio broadcasts from the Festival and in the weeks following the event.
The Ideas Festival is proudly presented by the Queensland Government. The Festival exists to:

- promote Queensland, locally, nationally and internationally as being future driven, innovative, diverse and forward thinking;
- debate and celebrate quality ideas in government, community and business; and
- enhance recognition and understanding of the relevance of Queensland’s Smart State agenda and of successful Smart State initiatives.
